Welcome to the first of several pieces of content I will be posting here!

I believe an introduction is in order.

I’m Josh, the Digital Marketing & Operations Coordinator from STSUK. And from an early age, I’ve been deeply interested in science and technology.

Like a lot of kids, I was obsessed with discovering how things worked. Growing up in the internet age, I would spend a lot of time on my laptop; I did not take it for granted and absorbed information like a sponge.

I grew up focusing on topics like physics, chemistry, and computing in school. These were interests I pursued into college, and eventually, they landed me a job working for an electrical engineering company, which seemed a good fit for my techie skill set.

The job mainly was admin, but it paid the bills.

Most importantly, it allowed me to invest time in developing some peripheral interest: Photography. An assortment of stringed instruments. Powerful computers that I use to play online games and edit pictures and videos.

THEN FURLOUGH HAPPENED…

Not one to sit on my behind and take the easy road, I started actively pursuing my creative side, looking at ways to turn those peripheral interests into a full-time career.

Photography… audio production… video production… community management.

All the signs pointed me towards a job in marketing.

But, with no prior qualifications, I was unsure where to turn.

I took some free online Google courses and eventually stumbled upon an apprenticeship with The Juice Academy.

Now, I’ve taken a few apprenticeships in my time as I have been figuring out what I want to do, but fair to say that this one has been the most engaging of the bunch.

I would highly recommend it for anyone trying to push their career towards content production.

This brings us right up to date.

I’m a 26-year-old content creator who is rapidly picking up the ins and outs of the Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, & Refrigeration (HVACR) industry.

Yes, that’s right, I can use my techie engineering interests and my creative side!

I feel fortunate, and I’ve been given incredible opportunities and support along the way.

Still, even if I am a bit of a confessed nerd, the chances are that -at this stage- I am only just about as well informed as the average person in the street about the inner workings of cooling systems, so I figured I’d share my lessons learned over a series of blogs that I will post every Wednesday.

Come with me, and you’ll be in a world of pure refrigeration…
