Server Room for a Major Bluechip Company in Middlewich
The Brief: To consider the clients current air conditioning installations for suitability and their position under FGas Legislation and R22 Phase Out.
As part of their R22 Phase Out plan our client asked us to consider their existing Air Conditioning equipment for its suitability. We carried out survey and gave a condition report based on our findings. This lead to a continuation of their maintenance plan as necessary good practice, and most of their equipment contained more than 3Kgs of refrigerant meaning that they require an annual FGas check under current legislation.
We also identified their high risk equipment such as those systems containing R22 refrigerant and a system tucked away in the loading bay which was under attack from salt corrosion as this was used to provide safe access during the winter months.
Based on our findings we agreed a replacement strategy citing the Server room as the most important as this was on R22 and services all of the data communications for a national distribution warehousing operation.
We have now completed the installation of two Panasonic under ceiling cassette air conditioning systems to a server / comms room at their site in Cheshire. The systems are set up to run on a changeover so that they share the work and should one ever fail the other would act as a back up. The systems are running on R410a, are more energy efficient with Invertor Compressor Technology and have a 5 year warranty to cover them going forwards. We were also able to select equipment suitable to use on the existing R22 pipe work after flushing, which cut installation costs and downtime.

Full reports were offered for our Health and Safety files and a number of faults discovered which involved having to replace two units. In order to reduce inconvenience I asked for an early start to the works and the engineers arrived at 7am as agreed each day! All of the works were carried out in accordance with their quotation and all units are working perfectly. The engineers worked with respect for the delicate equipment around them in the server room and protected the surrounding areas from dust whilst drilling.
